SUMMARY:Fireside Friday - IPv6 For IPv4 Users
DESCRIPTION:We all have gaps in our security knowledge. Fireside Fridays will be an opportunity to fill in those gaps. Each Friday we will pick a topic and go over the basics. These sessions will be a combination of lecture and hands on labs. We’ll cover a single topic and hopefully fill in some of those cracks. Think of it as a single focused “ask us anything” session. No judgment on the questions that get asked\, just a chance to raise the bar for all of us. \nMany of us are caught in a knowledge gap – we understand IPv4 and how to manage these networks\, but have limited experience with IPv6. This talk will cover the things you need to know to work with IPv6. \nChat with your fellow attendees in the Threat Hunter Community Discord server: https://discord.gg/threathunter in the #live-chat channel. \n  \nRegister Here\nBill StearnsBill has authored numerous articles and tools for client use. He also serves as a content author and faculty member at the SANS Institute\, teaching the Linux System Administration\, Perimeter Protection\, Securing Linux and Unix\, and Intrusion Detection tracks. Bill’s background is in network and operating system security; he was the chief architect of one commercial and two open source firewalls and is an active contributor to multiple projects in the Linux development effort. Bill’s articles and tools can be found in online journals and at http://www.stearns.org. \nShare this:

SUMMARY:Webcast - Introduction to Packet Capture
DESCRIPTION:In this presentation we’ll look at the basics of capturing packets\, focusing on why and how we grab packets from a network cable. If you’ve never captured packets before\, this talk is for you! You’ll be able to run these commands on your own network. \nChat with your fellow attendees in the Threat Hunter Community Discord server: https://discord.gg/threathunter in the #🔴live-webcast-chat. \nRegister Here\nBill StearnsBill has authored numerous articles and tools for client use. SUMMARY:Webcast - Creating Your Own Custom Sniffer/Analysis Tool
DESCRIPTION:We’re lucky to have hundreds of awesome packet sniffers to choose from\, but what happens when none of them do exactly what you want? \nWhen there’s no off-the-shelf tool to handle the task\, consider writing your own sniffer! \nIn this Active Countermeasures webcast\, Bill Stearns will teach you how to build your own sniffer using a skeleton that handles a huge amount of the grunt work. \nThe talk will be most valuable to those interested in packet sniffing\, packet analysis\, and network security. We’ll provide a template for a python program you can use for your own projects\, but you don’t have to be a python programmer to join us and see how this works. \nChat with your fellow attendees in the Threat Hunter Community Discord server here: https://discord.gg/threathunter — in the #🔴live-webcast-chat \nRegister Here\nBill StearnsBill has authored numerous articles and tools for client use.
